Mr. Kyle you made my point. Mr. Armas eeeeked out a win over a total newcomer. All of your promoting here hardly relates to achievement or performance! They all revolve around real estate. If we were looking for a new Manager of Facilities Operations or Facilities and Maintenance, that would be great. But for a Trustee let’s hope there is more to it.Your comments about “involvment with the creation of Burbank School” and that “Burbank School would not have come to fruituion” are a little bold in my opinion. I think it is the families and staff that have created what is now Burbank Elementary, even in the face of complete change.

You mention Mr. Armas being “intellectually equipped to bring substance to cure the causes of the loss of ADA money”, so I guess we will just have to see how this plays out. Could it be a fine for parents of truant children or town hall meetings??

There is no reason to relive the history of every committee or personal conversation you have ever had. Frankly we’ve heard it all before, over and over again. You tell the same stories and people are bored with your off-topic rants.

Mr. Kyle,
Go to that preverbial hot spot! You are a one trick pony who cannot just let people speak their mind without some snide comment. Nobody currently or soon to be seated on the board of education walks on water. All constituents have a right to say what they feel and to expect better from those who say they want to improve the lot of our students.

John G. and his wife have never been anything but kind and courteous to me, which is more than I can say for you. They have not attacked me or anyone else via a blog...they have not spoken publicly about me, particularly they have not spewed out unfactual information nor have they insinuated to some nefarious actions I may have committed. They are no more than neighbors who wave and ask about my family in a sincere and kind way. They are not consumed by a desire to somehow discredit me and mine. Perhaps you should take a lesson from their conduct. By the way they have never discussed whatever it is that has been unpleasant between you and them. I do bellieve that they are "Christian" in their approach to life, and they don't have to refer to their parochial background or provide biblical quotes to prove their Christian upbringing.
Do the right thing John Kyle and stop your selfish ugly commenting.

Observer AND…. Katy. Booth...

I nade no remarks about Mr. Armas Especially in relation to test scores or absenteeism AT EITHER BURBANK OR STONBRAE. Do either of you THINK ?

Frankly, I was selected by City Council to serve on the Walpert Ridge ‘ad hoc’ committee which did a great effort in bringing about the construction of the Stonebrae school. I had a hand in the land swap as between the RC Church, EB Regional Park District that facilitated the whole deal.... I was holding out for 700 lots, but Sherman Lewis Hayward;s greatest ever guru of nothingness wanted just 500. That Master of the minds of the of HAPA membersshipo fame, tried to scuttle the deal by filing a lawsuit a week before the AB 50 money was to meet it's Sunset.. He shook $1,000,000 out of the DEAL MUCH OF WHICH WAS rightfully a sum due the Church.

Armas had a hand in the negotiations leading to approval of 600 housing units, much of which is not yet sold or even =seen construction starts. So Lewis delayed the project by more than 20 years aand develop lost the opportunity to sell out the project in better economic period. THE LAST MINUTE LAWSUIT WAS INTENDED TO EITHER WRECK THE DEAL OR GAIN $1,000,000 FOR OTHER WHACKO ACTIVITY SHERMAN LEWIS INVOLVES HIMSELF WITH.

Have you any concept of the harm done to HUSD by the delay in finishing that project…. Which may not occur under present economic conditions for another 5 years. We have lost the ‘ad valorem‘ tax revenue applicable to real property tax income; worse yet, we are experiencing huge delay in the Sq. ft. area of each un-built home. That sum was about $5.00 per sq ft paid to school district when building permits are issued. Let us see, $5.00 per sq. ft. times typical size of 3,500 sq ft of building times 500 lots yet to be bought = $ sum of how much?.

The Burbank school Construction was not done with Bond money .If anything came from the school district pocket other than for desks etc I would like your advice on the subject If anything, a large part of the effort to relocate streets so to join the school site with Hard Park, it came from City’s redevelopment money A LARGE PART OF THE CITY'S REDEVEL;OPMENT MONEY WAS INVOLVED;.A LOW INCOME APART,MENT COMPLEX WAS BUILT ON THE CORNER OF Cst AND GRAND.... THE UNDEVELOPED LAND ON THE PLAYFIELD ONCE AN ADJUNCT OF THE 'OLD' BURBANK SCHOOL INURED TO THE PROJECT TOO.

FOR YOUR FURTHER EDUCATION KNOW THAT THE STONEBRAE HOUSING PROJECT HAS EXPERIENCED FURTHER DELAY IN THE EDEVELOPMENT DUE TO THE ECONOMY.... A LOT OF EMPTY DESKS WERE MADE AVAILABLE DUE TO THAT SLOW DOWN AFFECT UPON STONEBRAE. THANK YOUR DAMNABLE LUCKY STARS THAT IT WAS AVAILABLE TO RELIEVE THE PRESSURE ON EXISTING SCORES AT FAIRVIEW ETC. INCIDENTALLY, MY MEMORY TELLS ME THAT FAIRVIEW WAS QUITE HIGH ON THE LIST OF TRUANCY AND TRANSIENCE MONEY LOSSES. WISE UP ! YOU HAVE EGG ON T5OUR FACE FOR YOUR BASELESS CRITQUES AT ITEMS IN YOUR ABOVE POSTING.....

IF ANYONE HAS A RIGHT TO BE ANNOYED, I SURE DO.... IMAGINE MY AMNOYANCE WHEN, AFTER CONTRIBUTING WELL OVER A HUNDRED HOURS TO THE STONEBRAE DEVELOPMENT AD HOC GROUP, I WAS NOT PROVIDED EVEN A NAME TAG ON THE DEDICATION DAY...

IT WAS LAUGHABLE WHEN SARAH GONZALES CAME INTO THE PRESENCE OF MY WIFE AND MYSELF TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE MISS-SPELLING OF HER NAME ON THE DEDICATION PLAQUE...... SHE HAD ONLY BEEN ELECTED TO THE BOARD A SHORT WHILE WHEN SHE REGISTERED THAT COMPLAINT.... BUT THEN, … WHAT ARE WE TIO DO WHEN TEACHERS WERE PUT IN CHARGE OF MUCH OF THE PREPARATIONS FOR DEDICATION DAY.... AND THAT OLD MAN...MR. PETERSON WAS STRUTTING AROUND AS THOUGH HE OWNED THE JOINT !

KATHY'S REMARKS ARE UNBDERSTANDABLE SINCE IN HER AGE RELATED PROBLEMS SHE HAS BECOME DISTURBINGLY ANGRY. Or is she just under the influence of a near neighbor. Johnny ‘Jack’ G. ?

IF API SCORES AT BURBANK AND STONEBRAE DISTURB YOU, WHY BLAME ARMAS/ HE..HAS NOT YET HAD OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE INFLUENCE---....... GET OUT THE ABACUS FORMED BY THE FINGERS OF JUST YOUR RIGHT HAND.... COUNT THE MONTHS BETWEEN HIS APPOINTMENT AND THE DAY WHEN THE CUT OFF DATE FOR DETERMINATION OF TEST SCORES ARRIVED
Perhaps you just fail to approve of Latinos, in general?

WE are building the newest, biggest buildings. Have you seen your property tax bill since Measure I passed? The classrooms in the remodeled/new schools better be flippin' HUGE to accomodate 34 kids (I know the upper grades are used to this, and bless you for managing all these years. It's quite a shock for the little ones and their teachers). I would gladly pay even higher taxes if we could hire back some teachers and lower class size - and I mean K-12.

Funny that some want to give Mr. Armas all of the credit when it comes to Burbank and Stonebrae. Burbank, you know, the one named a Persistently Low Achieving School Tier I by the CDE? Is it thanks to his management skills that they qualify for SIG (that’s School Improvement Grant just so you know)? Or is it only their phenomenal API growth he wants to get credit for? It seems some believe new buildings, not students and teachers, really boost those test scores! Oh wait, Stonebrae, what happened? You have this lovely new building, thanks to Mr. Armas, and you are slipping in your API! You should call him and let him know, maybe you need a new field, or a bigger classroom. Somebody must not have told Southgate, Tennyson or any of the other “older” schools that made huge growth in their API that it takes a “new” building to make HUSD schools better. Really, the campaign is over, let’s stop letting people take credit for things when really improvements in this District fall on the backs of our teachers, students and their families!

Funny that Mr. Kyle has no comment on the performance in the polls of Sheila Sims. Looks like Brunner doesn’t have to wait until 2012 to hope for your support. Lucky her! I’m sure you have some thoughts on the fact that she appeared first on this list of candidates and this is probably what you credit for giving Walker such a close shot at the 2 year term. You can only offer speculation on what prompts any of these people to run for which office or where their support comes from so I would really like you to stop guessing! Give the voters of Hayward a little credit!

Teacher mom,

See today's story in Review as writ by Kurhi.....??

I backs up my surmise of the situation expressed above.
I met and had a few moments in conversation with Ms. Walker. afyer the Forum put on by the Asian Community in South west area near shoreline. .... I too am impressed.....inexperience led her into a triumverate with Ms. May and Mr. Jones who avoided contest with Armas by seeking in the 'plan before marriage', a seat on a four year basis rather than just two. Too late for Walker at that point to chase a four year seat.

Brunner has fulfilled her wish.... now we need to see how she works with the group......McGee is bright and relates well with kids through his interest in Basketball etc. Watch him grow into solution of the needs of HUSD.

If we see more of Walker involvment with HUSD between now and next election I would too be pleased. It piys Heredia into position of a need for insight into affairs/needs of other segments of community.
