Michael:

Unfortunately gun shops do not always follow the rules they are supposed to regarding selling their wares and the use of "straw" buyers helps criminals circumvent what rules there are. Just recently there was a news report addressing the same issue south of the border. The horrific violence going on in Mexico is being inflicted by folks armed by US gun dealers along the border, as evidenced by the fact that many of the guns confiscated from these criminals have been traced to US shops. I seem to remember Texas and Arizona being singled out as the main source.

If the Mexican drug gangs can easily purchase and transport weapons to Mexico, any criminal in the US side can just as easily acquire them in other states and bring them to California. Unfortunately any efforts to regulate these kinds of weapons is met with fierce opposition in some states of this country...

In the past week there have been two significant felony gun possession arrests in the residential Castro Valley Hills near Lake Chabot and Cull Canyon Park. The arrests of two convicted felons with six assault rifles and one short barrel shotgun indicate that the assault and automatic weapons are not just in the hands of the gang bangers drug crazies.

No press at all in the local papers, just a squib in the CVPatch.

Is there a militia building up an armory up in the Castro Valley Hills?

How did these two felons come in to possession of these weapons? Since they cannot be sold in California, they had to be from the underground.

One of the arrested felons is 35. What is his name. The other arrested felon is 60. What is his name? This is a vital concern to all. Six assault weapons and a short barrel shotgun are not minor infractaions and in the hands of two convicted felons are even slightly a good idea.

This is the sort of thing that really needs more coverage. Help all of us out. These sort of things in our neighborhood are a real concern.

Eric, I am so tickled that you are staying with the calendar. You are truly transformational.

The MGSCV show is exceptional if you like rocks, either raw or as fine art. IMHO this is the finest presentation in this type in all of California, covering virtually every aspect of the hobby and the sport of stones.

Well worth everyone's visit to Newark.
