Watchdog, I'm totally ignorant about what the Grand Central Cooking Kitchen was. Do you mind catching me up?
I see new innovative ideas emerging for Sunset now coming from the partnership of Nate Miley and the Ashland Cherryland community. The people there are connected with the people in my neighborhood in Burbank. I would like Sunset to be availabe to all of us, across the governmental boundary lines between the county and city of Hayward.

I mentioned in a blog long ago about using the Adult school site @ Sunset as a possible alternative to the decommissioned Hayward Centennial Hall to hold events.

They could have placed the " Grand Central Cooking Kitchen" there and utilized utilities such as gas and water already sized for such a facility and catered for such events that have now moved out of Hayward.

From what I understand, grant money was used to renovate the facility for Project Eat, and all the grant money was used for renovation, and now the program is in limbo.

Was the city council or Nate Miley aware of the revenue that may have been possibly generated for the local community and H.U.S.D. by relocating the "Grand Central Kitchen" to the Sunset site?

Teresa, I can tell you are feeling uncomfortable with the way things are going. It's not clear, though, what it is that is making you feel that way. Maybe you see the loss of something or fear something? What is it that you need or want? Would you mind sharing with us?

Anyone remember the Zucchini festival held on the third weekend at Kennedy Park? Well, due to the fees charged by HARD, the festival is more than likely going to move to Union City next year. Who would ever had thought that Union City would grab something from Hayward? First all the yearly shows at the Convention Center, now zukes are moving on.

Was kind of hoping some car dealers might come back to Mission Row, but other types of business seem to be filing in or nothing. Hayward is becoming a collection of empty lots in the Mission area. How sad to see these.

Funny how lap tops and wireless can keep me connected, but then I guess Mr. Kyle is too ignorant to think of that.

Teresa,
While I wasn't there for the last governance meeting, someone I know was and they reported the information that I gave you regarding the purpose(s) of the meeting to come on Thursday. If you are interested in what the Mission Statement said, go to Eric's posting of the last week or so..He took a cell phone picture of it and you can enlarge it and read it for yourself. Maybe you will disagree with my opinion of the content, but at least you will have had a chance to read it.

All:

A little more than three hours since our great pundit rendered her last interpretation of what goes on behind closed doors at HUSD.

Perhaps she has taken time to visit her husband?

Teresa,
you pretty much hit it on the head. They are trying to find a way to make the public think that they are getting along. I do know that at the last "board govrnance" meeting they all agreed that they couldn't communicate with each other or with district staff. They also are trying to come up with a new Mission Statement, not that the old one was all that bad. Of course to write a new one they first have to find a way to get along...so it may be a while before we see the fruits of their collective efforts.

Okay, maybe I don't understand but what is the deal with all these meetings on board governance and goal setting? Does this really mean let's fight not so publicly about cuts?
