Thanks for the heads up on 1/4-Pound. I checked in with the city’s economic development manager, it was news to him although he said that the chain has been in a state of decline for some time. However, there’s some good news for burger fans — Five Guys Burgers and Fries is coming to town, will set up shop in the Target shopping center at A and Hesperian. Look for a “state of the burger in Hayward” story later this week.

I think the property the burger place sits on was recently sold through foreclosure. I could be wrong, however. Think the bank if so would be smart enough to keep place open. Maybe someone bought it to build something else. We sure don’t need anymore empty lots. The windows are boarded up and there are no signs on the place as of yesterday.

Congrats to the little leaguers. That is a fantastic accomplishment! Is 1/4 burgers the place by the plunge? How can that be closed? There were always people there. I loved the walk-up window. Say it isn’t so!

The loss of 1/4 pound burger on Mission Boulevard is a loss of immeasurable depth. There are not any other burgers like this left in the community. A place where where you could rely on getting a really great hamburger. I know all about Val’s, but it is not the same. What a loss.

the district 45 team is made up of all stars from all of the districts teams. anyway, they lost yesterday 4-3 to the southwest. We’ll get em today.

In case you missed the tiny article in the sports page, District 45 the local little league district for hayward, castro valley, union city is the west’s representative in the little league world series at the 17-18 level (called big little league). congratulation guys. Keep up the good work. they won the west title in washington last week.
