So I went out looking for my Daily Review yesterday morning and couldn't find it anywhere. Then I realized there is no more Monday paper. What am I going to read with my morning coffee?!!! I survived that crisis and then realized, if I can learn to live without the paper on Monday, I can learn to live without it the rest of the week. Not a good strategy on the part of ANG.

I have been subscribed to the electronic edition of the Review for some time. Unfortunately, my password is no longer working and I can't get anyone to help even though I have called, left messages and emails to various people.

On the positive end,in the absence of my regular news, I have found more sources of news: the Chabot college news is online, for instance. In fact, there are a lot of sites trying to open to new sources of news in Hayward.

I saw a poll on the DR about the occupyers that was not at all supportive. My kids tell me the DR is for oldsters and the polls are all about who reads it.

It's a changing world.

Re: New Paper.

Pro: Front page has dropped some junk that was really never "news" and has more readable stuff. Local news section seems larger, but I am not sure that this is not an optical illusion. Enjoy the new colorful pictures. The business section also seems to have more stuff. The sports page is at least equal to the previous edition; may be larger.

Cons: The new TV listings suck. They are no longer in color, and barely cover the local channels. And worse, until the new limited TV section, there is a daily ad to subscribe to a TV magazine. UGH!

Comics: WHERE THE HELL IS PEANUTS?

Extra stuff: Your weekly enclosusres have changed. This is confusing; I have missed ones I like already. Some sections seem to be almost overkill now (re: food) and others reduced (grocery ads and coupons).
Not enjoying the increased ads scattered throughout the paper.

And, don't even THINK about not delivering my Monday paper. If I could go pick up a paper, I would. Us shut-ins look forward to our paper.

Moore;

Was that you mingling with Oakland's 'occupy' clan as photographed and published by BANG recently?

Good grief, if it was you, be careful how you mess with their economic re-organization; advocating use of electronic news reporting may bite into subscription counts..... and result in an affect upon your business!

If that was not you,then we need not worry about the affect upon furniture at public library furniture! The presence of other newsprint at that location is also available at no cost to patrons of the Libary.

Would a coffee dispensary be made available if I chose to reduce my Review subscription to Sunday only?

I dropped my newspaper subscriptions, the Chronicle, Daily Review, San Jose Mercury, Atlanta Constitution, St. Louis Post Dispatch, LA Times and Sunday New York Times in 2008 and converted to electronic versions of all of these. No more newspaper. It is a much more responsible way to gather the news. Did I point out that all are also still delivered electronically on time for free.

Don's see the point of dropping home delivery on Monday if they are still printing a paper anyway. Eric, can you give us a little more clarity on this?

Don't get in trouble, though.

Qodrn;

There is always the SF Chronicle ! They have a great reporter in Mr. Matier..... he seems to have endles scontacts on 'the inside' of SF and East Bay communities.... SAW HIM SHOPPING ONCE AT COSTCO IN SAN LEANDRO SO I IMAGINE HIM TO BE AN East Bay resident.
He seems to be on top of his game and frequently is seen involved with a story on Channel 5 in addition to his shared column with another on the same page within the Chronicleas where we find scribbles of former Mayor Willie Brown.

Chronicle does a good job covering the Bay area,but is a bit pricy.... I currently subscribe only on Sunday but would easily go 'daily' if BANG drops the ball! We all need some bettet coverage of Hayward.....if we are to continue describing Hayward as 'Heart of the Bay'.
