If you are looking for a place to save on your gas purchases, using http://www.oaklandgasprices.com/ works pretty good for me. This website has prices of gas all over the Bay Area.

All;
Once again voters in the HUSD service area shoot themselves in the foot!
What the success of that vote accomplishes is that the money lost to truancy is replaced from the pocket books of homeowners.
Truancy at HUSD costs us about $9,000,000. per year and measure G saves the district trustees from the incredibly distasteful task of asking the parents of truants to perform their legally required task of assuring attendance.

Hey People:
The new reporter for Hayward is Rebecca Parr who lives in Hayward. Maybe if we all welcome her she will see the wisdom in keeping up the blog.
Meanwhile, Eric is toiling nights at the San Jose news desk…..with the Mercury now.

It would be nice to see an article about the turnout in hayward for City Council. I hope Ms. Parr will see the wisdom in covering Hayward and keeping the blog going.

Rebecca Parr;
Covering HAYWARD AND IT’S SCHOOLS?
MAY I SUGGEST THAT YOU SEEK COPIES OF THE TRUANCY RATES REPORT FOR EACH OF THE SCHOOL YEAR ANNUAL REPORTS DATING BACK TO sCHOOL YEAR 2009-2010, 2010-2011 AND THE MOST RECENT ( 2011-2012) WHICH MAY NOT YET HAVE BEEN COMPLETED…(JULY ??)
THEN ASK IF THE HUSD TRUSTEES HAVE BEEN CONCIENTIOUS IN PERFORMANCDE OF THEIR DUTIES!
PULL UP CALIF. STATE SENATE BILL 1317 WHICH WAS PASSED UNDER SPONSORSHIP OF STATE SENATOR LENO IN LATE 2010 AND BECAME EFFECTIVE ON JANUARY 1, 2011. THAT BILL AUTHORIZES ACTIONS AGAINST PARENTS OF TRUANTS ESPECIALLY THOUGHT NEEDED HERE IN husd SOINCE THE LOSS OF $29.10 PER STUDENT PER DAY OF UNEXCUSED ABSENCE HAS COST LOSS OF CALIF. STATE ‘AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE’ MONEY’.
mY MOST RECENT CALCULATION USED YEAR 2010-2011 TRUANCY RATE DATA TO WIT: K-6 SCHOOLS 4,626 ACTS OF TRUANCY OCCURRED; AT MIDDLE SCHOOLS 2,383 ACTS AND AT HIGH SCHOOLS, 4471 ACTS OF TRUANCY ADDS UP TO ABOUT $9,000,000 PER YEAR…. OR THE ABOUT THE EQUIVALENT OF THE MEAURE g MONEY!
sENATE BILL 1317 PERMITS THE TRUSTEES TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST PARENTS OF TRUANTS…. BUT AS MS. BRUNNER, STATED TO ME DURING THE COURSE OF A ,MEETING, IN JANUARY 2011…”WE PREFER TO TALK TO THE PARENTS OF TRUANTS…” WHICH SUGGESTS. TO ME THAT SLICK TONGUED LADY ‘EYEBROWS’ HAS TO GO IN NOVEMBER ELECTIONS!
MEASURE g DID NOTHING BUT COME CLOSET TO CLOSING THE GAP IN THE BUDGET CAUSED BY TRUANCY!
11,480 ACTS OF TRUANCT IN SCHOOL YEAR 2010-2011 AT $29.10 PER DAY….( FIGURE THAT SOME TRUANCIES LAST 3 OR MORE DAYS )….. ABOUT $9,000,000 +

We are paying a parcel tax so that children that can afford to provide their own breakfasts and lunches will receive free breakfasts and lunches at 5 schools?!!! If my children attended any of those schools, I would REFUSE to fill out the free meal paperwork! Who’s brilliant idea is this?

It looks as though this blog is dead. There was so much potential here for a Hayward blog and so little realized, after all. Perhaps that is the real Hayward legacy. Oh well. 2013 has sprung forth and we can all enjoy it for what it is. See you all in Patch.
