Hayward police blotter 1/21-1/27/2014

Police were called to the area of the greenway and Southgate Park for a group of males fighting. Prior to police arriving a subject(s) in a vehicle fired off several rounds from a handgun. The suspects fled prior to police arriving.

A burglary occurred in the 22000 block of Main Street. The resident was at home when he heard his alarm go off. The victim discovered a door into the home had been forced open and called the police. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Police Officers were called to a gas station on the 22000 block of Foothill Blvd regarding an assault and vandalism incident. The clerk and business had been shot with what was believed to be a bb gun. A suspect was stopped and arrested on Foothill Blvd a short time later.

A traffic collision resulting in major injuries occurred at the intersection of B St and 6th Street. The pedestrian was walking across B St in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital for her injuries.

An armed Robbery occurred at Tennyson Road and Dixon St near the south Hayward BART station. The two suspects approached the victim and took the victim’s purse while displaying a handgun. Both suspects fled eastbound on foot.

While in the Industrial area of west Hayward Officers observe an illegal racing event. Responding Officers stop several of the vehicles as they try and flee the scene. Drivers are cited for vehicle code violations and a vehicle is towed.

A woman was stabbed with a knife when she got between and male and female who were fighting in the Dark Horse Lounge. The male and female who were fighting fled the scene prior to police arriving. The female who had been stabbed identified a truck at the scene as belonging to the male who stabbed her. Officers staked out the vehicle until the male returned where he was then arrested.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress to a home at Fourth St and B St. The suspect was seen entering a residence and removing property. After checking nearby vacant addresses officers locate some of the stolen property. Suspects are stopped nearby with some of the stolen property in their possession and are arrested.

Hayward police blotter 1/14/14

There was a traffic collision at B Street and 3rd Street involving a motorist and a wheelchair-bound pedestrian. The pedestrian was crossing in the crosswalk when she was struck by the motorist. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital.

A vehicle struck a church at the 27000 block of Patrick Ave. The driver was parking her vehicle when they accidentally stepped on the gas instead of the break causing the vehicle to hit the building. There were no injuries to the driver.

A suspicious fire occurred at an apartment building on Cypress Ave. The fire started in a storage unit and spread causing damage to two apartments. There were no injuries.

While filling his vehicle at the county gas pumps a police officer observes a mentally unstable suspect vandalizing Alameda County vehicles. The suspect is detained and Alameda County was advised of the incident.

An unknown suspect set fire to an abandoned structure on the 1400 block of B Street causing significant damage to the structure.

A robbery occurred at a bank on the 27000 block of Hesperian Blvd. The suspect presented a teller a demand note and then fled with cash. A search for the suspect was unsuccessful. The suspect was later determined to have committed or attempted to commit two other robberies in adjacent jurisdictions.

An officer pulled over a suspected DUI driver, who fled when the officer approached his vehicle. The suspect crashed his car a short distance later and tried to flee from the scene but was captured and arrested. One city vehicle was damaged during the incident.

Officers respond to the intersection of Mission Blvd and Hancock Ave for a vehicle collision. The driver of one of the vehicles tries to flee the scene but is captured. After officers take the suspect into custody they transport him to a local hospital for treatment. While at the hospital the suspect is found to have narcotics in his possession.

Police responded to a shooting on the 22000 block of South Garden Ave and find a single male victim who has been shot in the shoulder. The victim is transported to a local hospital where he is treated.

There was a fatal vehicle accident on Industrial Parkway SW involving a single vehicle running into a light pole. The driver was declared deceased at the scene. Witnesses indicate the driver was seen driving erratically prior to the collision and was not wearing his seatbelt.

Officers respond to an assault with a deadly weapon at the Timbers Apartments on Santa Clara Street. Officer arrived to find a male and female involved in a domestic dispute. The male was found to have a single laceration to his hand from the altercation.

A shooting occurred in the area of Myrtle St and West Winton Ave. The suspect pulled up next to the victim and fired rounds into the victim’s vehicle. Further investigation determines that the victim and suspect know each other through female associates.

Community meeting on new Hayward fire station, health clinic

HAYWARD — The fire department is holding a community meeting about a plan to rebuild Fire Station #7 on Huntwood Road and construct a health center next door.

The meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Fire Station #7, 28270 Huntwood (near Tennyson, across from Tennyson Park.) Firefighters will have drawings of the new facilities and talk about what is planned at both.

South Hayward currently does not have a public adult health clinic. The health center would be built on city property, but it would be run by Tiburcio Vasquez under a contract with Alameda County Health Care Services Agency.

Blood drive in Castro Valley

CASTRO VALLEY — The American Red Cross is holding a blood drive Jan. 20 in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the National Day of Service.

The office of Congressman Eric Swalwell is hosting the drive. Blood donors usually drop off this time of year, and to increase awareness, January is National Blood Donor Month.

The blood drive is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hayward Castro Valley Moose Lodge, 20835 Rutledge Road.

Hayward police blotter 1/07/14-1/13/14

A male suspect simulates a weapon and forces victim to surrender their vehicle. Witnesses call 911 and a description of the victim’s vehicle is broadcast to patrol units. The vehicle is located and the driver is taken into custody for carjacking.

A victim walking in the area of B St and Second St is stuck in the head with a fire extinguisher by an unknown suspect. The victim received minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Suspect gets into a confrontation inside his home in the 22000 block of Mission Blvd with an acquaintance. During the confrontation, the suspect brandishes a firearm at the acquaintance causing him to flee and contact the police. Suspect is contacted at his home and arrested, no weapon is recovered.

A robbery occurred at the Eden Youth Center during which the suspect took the victim’s cellular phone. The victim tried to arrange to have the suspect return the phone but when the suspect refused, the victim called the police. Officers stop the suspect later in a stolen vehicle and the victim’s phone is recovered along with a firearm.

While contacting a group of subjects in a parking lot in the 22000 block of South Garden Avenue a stolen handgun and narcotics were recovered. One of the subjects ran from the police and was not located. One subject was arrested.

A robbery occurred in the area of Middle Ave and Eden Avenue. The victim was approached by a suspect with a handgun and had their phone taken. The suspect fled in the direction of Middle Lane and Saklan Road.

A robbery occurred in the area of Tennyson Rd and Ruus Rd. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and fled on foot in the direction of Bruno Ave.

A strong arm robbery involving three suspect took place in the area of West Tennyson Rd and Manon Avenue. The suspects took the victim’s cell phone and the victim received minor injuries from the incident.

A witness calls about two subjects with plastic bags digging a hole near the Hayward Shoreline. When police arrived they found the hole with nothing inside. A search during daytime does not locate and evidence of criminal activity.

A burglary occurred in the area of Virginia Street where an unknown suspect(s) entered an occupied residence during the night and took tools. One resident was home during the incident and recalled hearing movement in the home but did not see suspect.

A robbery occurred at Mount Eden Park. The victims were surrounded by a group of suspects who threatened them into giving up a cellular phone and a bicycle.

A patrol officer in the area of First Street and Armstrong St observed a suspect running from a stolen vehicle after it was located by LOJACK. A police perimeter was established and a canine was used in a search for the suspect. The suspect was located hiding to the rear of a residence and apprehended.

Patrol officers observe a suspicious vehicle occupied by three subjects illegally parked near a bank. Upon contacting the subjects officers develop probable cause to search the vehicle resulting in the recovery of two stolen handguns. All three suspects were arrested.

A robbery and attempted sexual assault occurred at an apartment complex in the area of Hesperian Blvd and W Tennyson Rd. The victim fought off the suspect who fled from the scene after being chased by residents. Patrol officers are able to identify the suspect and pass this information onto the investigations bureau. After conducting surveillance the suspect is located and apprehended by investigators. The victim’s property was recovered and the suspect arrested.

CHP chased a stolen car into the Hayward city limits where the driver and passengers abandoned the vehicle on Flamingo Way. Hayward Patrol units set up a perimeter and conduct a search, which located the driver of the stolen vehicle. CHP arrest the suspect for vehicle theft.

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred in the 900 block of Torrano Avenue. The suspect hit the victim on the head with a baseball bat, causing a significant injury. Suspect is arrested at the scene.

A carjacking occurred in the area of 1000 Tennyson Road. The two suspects take the victim’s vehicle at gunpoint and flee the scene. The vehicle is later located by Alameda County Sheriff deputies and four subjects are taken into custody. Hayward patrol officers take over the investigation and take custody of the suspects who are also determined to be involved in a recent shooting in the 26000 black of Evergreen St.

Patrol officers respond to a request for assistance by BART PD for a group fighting on the tracks near the downtown station. As subjects are leaving the scene multiple gunshots are heard from the A Street train tracks. Several vehicles flee the scene and expended casings are found at the scene. A vehicle that was stopped driving from the scene had one passenger flee from police and escape. No victims were located or weapons recovered.
