Hayward police blotter July 9-15

Wed, 7/9/14, approx. 8:05 PM, a DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/CARJACKING occurred in the 2000 block of Aldengate: A man asked to borrow his girlfriend’s car. When she refused, he threatened to put a gun in her mouth and she complied out of fear. The car was later recovered on 7/11/14 by the Oakland Police Department.

Thur, 7/10/14, approx. 9:20 AM, a RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY occurred in the 22000 block of S Garden Ave: A neighbor saw two males climb up a balcony and through a window into an apartment. The neighbor didn’t recognize the males and called the police. Officers surrounded the apartment and with the assistance of a police canine, officers were able to talk the males into voluntarily exiting the apartment. It turned out they indeed did not live there and they were arrested.

Thur, 7/10/14, approx. 11:40 AM, an AUTO THEFT/PASSING A FRAUDULENT CHECK occurred at a liquor store in the 300 block of Winton Ave: A clerk called the police to report a female who used a fraudulent check to make a purchase earlier, returned to the store. When police arrived, they saw the female being driven away by a male in a truck. Before officers could stop them, the male pulled over and let the female out of the truck. Officers discovered the truck was stolen and were able to stop the man driving it. Officers searched the area where the female was last seen and found her hiding in a nearby business, so she was arrested as well.

Fri, 7/11/14, approx. 10:40 AM, an ARSON/RESTRAINING ORDER VIOLATION occurred in the 29000 block of Dixon St: The male suspect returned to his estranged wife’s apartment in violation of a restraining order, after being released from jail for domestic violence. The male began damaging and destroying property inside the apartment. The noise woke up the victim, who snuck out of the apartment and went to work. The male phoned the victim at her work and said he was going to destroy her property. When the victim came home, she discovered the suspect burned some property inside the apartment and then apparently put it out with a fire extinguisher.

Fri, 7/11/14, approx. 9:30 PM, a DOMESTIC VIOLENCE occurred in the 1500 block of Macatera: The male suspect punched his girlfriend in the face, inflicting visible injury. The male immediately began stabbing himself in the upper body. He was admitted to a local hospital for medical treatment for his injuries, which were not critical.

Sun, 7/13/14, approx. 3:25 AM, a NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE OF A FIREARM occurred in an unknown location in Hayward: A male came to a local hospital after he was shot in the lower body. Initially the man said it occurred while he was walking down a street, but his injury was not consistent with the information he provided. The man said he accidentally shot himself, but did not provide any investigative information.

Mon, 7/14/14, approx. 2:10 PM, an ARMED ROBBERY occurred at D/Atherton: Four to five black males demanded the male victim give him his backpack containing his wallet and other property. One of the males had a gun and pointed it at the male, as they made this demand, so he gave it to them. When officers arrived, they were able to use GPS technology to locate the stolen property on the 500 block of Dean St. An adult male and juvenile male found with the property and a gun, were identified by the victim as two of the males who robbed him. The males were arrested.

Mon, 7/14/14, approx. 4:40 PM, an ARMED ROBBERY occurred at a sandwich shop in the 31000 block of Mission Bl: A white male (about 35 yrs old, about 5’7”, medium build, wearing a black baseball cap and black shirt) pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money, then ran away.

Tues, 7/15/14, approx. 12:30 AM, a CARJACKING occurred at Holy Oake/Mediterranean: A male suspect (unknown race/age, wearing dark clothing, with a hoodie covering his face) approached the male victim, as he stood near the door of his 2004 blue Range Rover. The suspect demanded the victim’s car keys. No weapon was seen or simulated. The Range Rover was later recovered, unoccupied in Oakland.

Hayward police blotter, June 25-July 2

From Hayward police:

Wed, 6/25/14, approx. 5:00 AM, ARMED ROBBERY: The male victim phoned Hayward PD to report an armed robbery, as he was driving himself to a local hospital. The victim said two black males (5’8”-6’, 18-21 yrs, wearing all dark clothing) walked up to his car, pulled him out, took his property and shot him in the leg. Officers were unable to verify the location of the incident, as reported. The victim did not sustain any critical injury and the investigation is ongoing.

Wed, 6/25/14, approx. 4:25 PM, FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION @ La Mesa/Farmhill: A male pedestrian was struck by a car, as he crossed the intersection. The motorist stayed at the scene to assist with the investigation and intoxication was not thought to be a factor. The pedestrian suffered critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries the following day. The collision is being investigated by the Traffic Bureau and a press release was issued last week.

Wed, 6/25/14, approx. 7:45 PM, ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY on Muir St: a Good Samaritan intervened when he saw a male suspect trying to rob another man at gunpoint. The suspect struck the Good Samaritan in the head with the gun and then ran to a nearby house. Officers surrounded the residence and discovered the suspect does not live in the house, but resides somewhere else nearby. Officers searched for the suspect, but did not find him at that time. A replica handgun used during the incident was recovered. The original robbery victim ran away when the Good Samaritan intervened and was never located. The Good Samaritan suffered minor injuries, but no loss of property. The Investigation is ongoing.

Wed, 6/25/14, approx. 11:20 PM, ARMED ROBBERY @ the downtown Wells Fargo Bank ATM: Two men drove to the bank so one of them could get money from the ATM. After the man collected his money from the ATM, the suspect (black male, about 6’1”, skinny, wearing a black hoodie and a skeleton mask), walked up and demanded the cash at gunpoint. The suspect then walked up to the second man, who was waiting nearby. The suspect demanded the second man’s wallet. The suspect got cash from the first man and the second man’s wallet.

Thur, 6/26/14, approx. 10:10 PM, ARMED ROBBERY on Luvena: The suspect (white male, about 5’7”, mid 20’s, medium build, short hair and a moustache) brandished a gun and demanded the victim’s property. The victim gave the suspect his cell phone and wallet.

Fri, 6/27/14, approx. 9:40 AM, ARMED ROBBERY at the Rite Aid at 24536 Hesperian: The suspect (black male, 20’s, thin build, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans) went to the pharmacy department and simulated that he had a gun under his shirt. The suspect demanded narcotics, then got into a mid-size silver car. He was last seen southbound on La Playa. The investigation is ongoing.

Fri, 6/27/14, approx. 10:45 AM, ARMED ROBBERY at the Cigarette Store at 24703 Amador: The suspect (Black male, about 5’10”, medium build, wearing a black mesh mask, black and blue jacket, and a black backpack) walked up to the cashier and brandished what appeared to be a gun wrapped in cloth. The suspect demanded cash from the register and fled the store after getting it.

Fri, 6/27/14, approx. 3:40 PM, BURGLARY/AUTO THEFT occurred on Westwood: The victims came home to find jewelry, a firearm with some ammunition, and their SUV were all stolen sometime while they were at work that day. The SUV had a security system installed and several hours later police were able to determine the SUV’s location, still in Hayward. When officers converged on the SUV as it was stopped in traffic, the three male juveniles inside it ran away before the officers could effectively block their escape routes. Two of the males were taken into custody, after a short foot pursuit and the third male was found nearby hiding in a yard, a short time later. The jewelry and the firearm were not located.

Sat, 6/28/14, 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Alcohol/Vice enforcement throughout the city, in conjunction with the Alcohol Beverage Control Agency (ABC): Detectives and ABC agents visited nine establishments to ensure they would not sell alcohol to minors. Two establishments did, but seven did not.

Mon, 6/30/14, approx. 5:05 PM, STABBING @ an unknown location in Hayward: The male victim went to a local hospital for puncture wounds he incurred during an attack by an unknown number of Hispanic males. The victim was unsure about how many males attacked him, where, and why. He thought one of them possibly stabbed him with an icepick. He sustained minor injuries.

Mon, 6/30/14, approx. 8:00 PM, STRONGARM ROBBERY near B/Watkins: The male victim said his girlfriend of one week asked him to meet her and to bring cash and marijuana. When the male arrived, the girlfriend and several males beat him up, and then took the money and marijuana. The female and one of the males were still in the area and were taken into custody. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Mon, 6/30/14, approx. 9:00 PM, FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, near Huntwood/Tennyson: Two males got into an argument outside a liquor store and one of them brandished a gun. When officers arrived, the suspect was still there, with the gun concealed in his waistband. As a convicted felon, he cannot possess a gun and was arrested for brandishing and possessing the gun.

Tue, 7/1/14, approx. 4:50 PM, ARMED ROBBERY @ the Southland Mall Wells Fargo Bank: The male suspect (Hispanic, about 5’10”, in his 30’s, stocky build, wearing a plaid shirt, and a black and white baseball cap), handed one of the tellers a note, demanding money. The suspect ran off toward Hesperian, after getting the money. The investigation is ongoing.

Wed, 7/2/14, approx. 1:05 AM, ARMED ROBBERY @ 7-11 at 330 Jackson: The male suspect (Hispanic, about 5’8”, medium build, 17-25 yrs, wearing a black hoodie, red mask, and tan shorts) brandished a knife at the cashier and demanded cigarettes and money. The suspect fled after the cashier gave the items to him.

A robbery occurred in the 26000 block of Eldridge Avenue. The victim was approached by three suspects near the footbridge. One of the suspects demanded the victim’s property. When the victim refused the suspects assaulted the victim. The suspects were described as African American males in their mid-20’s; all were tall and had thin builds. One of the suspects had shoulder length hair in braids and the other two had shaved heads.

A robbery occurred on West Tennyson Rd under the BART tracks. The victim was approached by three suspects who assaulted him and took property. The suspects fled from the scene in a red older model Buick LeSabre. The suspects were described as African American males. The victim was treated for his injuries at a local hospital.

Hayward Police dispatch received a call from citizens regarding a subject shooting a handgun from their vehicle. The informant said he heard a gun being fired and saw the muzzle flash. A gold four door vehicle fled from the area shortly after the gun shots. Responding officers located evidence of the shooting in the street. No property damage or injuries were reported from the incident.

A robbery occurred on South Garden Avenue at Marin Avenue. The suspect pushed the victim off of his bicycle and assaulted him. The suspect then took property from the victim while he was on the ground. An arriving officer stopped the suspect in a vehicle as he was leaving the area and detained him. The suspect was identified and arrested.

Officers responded to a burglary on Lafayette Ave. While conducting their investigation the officers located footprints leading away from the scene. The officers went to the residence where the footprints terminated and contacted the residents. The residents identified the footprints as belonging to subjects who had recently left their home. Officers went to the address provided by the residents and contacted one of the suspects who confessed to committing the burglary. Both suspects were arrested and property taken in the burglary was recovered.

An armed robbery occurred to a business in the 2400 block of Diablo Ave. The suspect entered the business and took the victims’ property after threatening them with a firearm. The suspect fled the scene in a light grey Honda with dealer paper plates from “Honda of Oakland” The suspect was described as an African American male, 6’0” in height, medium build and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.

An armed robbery occurred in front of the 500 block of West Tennyson Rd. The suspect pushed the victim against a tree and struck him on the head with a pistol. The suspect took property from the victim and released him. As the victim left he heard one gunshot fired in his direction; the victim was not hit. The suspect was described as an African American male, 5’06” in height, heavy build, wearing a black baseball hat and black jacket with white sleeves.

An assault with a deadly weapon occurred at a public park on Berry Ave. The victim and the suspect had a confrontation regarding money when the suspect stabbed the victim in the neck. The victim fled and called the police the suspect left in a green ford Taurus or similar vehicle. The suspect is described as an African American male, 6’00” tall, with a thin build. The suspect vehicle was being driven by an African American female.

During a neighbor dispute on the 22000 block of Sonoma Street the suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and threatened him with it. The suspect then fired three rounds in the air and left the scene in a tan 2000-2005 Lincoln Navigator. The suspect was described as an African American Male, 6’00” tall, 250 pounds between 45 and 50 years.

A robbery occurred at the intersection of B St and Montgomery St. The victim was walking on the sidewalk when the suspects, 8 African American juveniles, surrounded him. The suspect assaulted the victim and attempted to take his property. The suspects were unsuccessful in robbing the victim and fled.

A shooting occurred in front of an address on the 2500 block of West Tennyson Rd. The two victims were sitting in their own vehicle when the suspect(s) drove by and someone in the suspect vehicle fired one shot through the victims vehicle’s driver side window. Neither victim was stuck during the incident. The suspect vehicle was described as 2000s black BMW 4 door with tinted windows.

Hayward police blotter June 2-8

A stabbing occurred at a business at 27400 Mission Blvd. The suspect and victim got into a physical altercation inside the business and the suspect stabbed the victim in the back. The victim was transported to a local hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Officers located and arrested the suspect near the scene.

Hayward Police Department received a call from a resident who interrupted a burglary to their home on the 25000 block of Carlos Bee Blvd. The suspect fled from the homeowner as he called 911. Responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.

An injury traffic collision occurred at Industrial Pkwy West and Hall Road. A DUI driver struck a parked vehicle and had to be removed from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. He was issued a citation at the hospital while being held for treatment.

A robbery occurred on the 25000 block of Hayward Blvd. The suspect pushed the victim to the ground and took property from the victim while they were on the ground. The suspect fled west on Hayward Blvd. The suspect was described as an African-American male with a dark shirt and blue jeans.

An armed robbery occurred on the 2500 block of Arf Ave. Three suspects approached the victims who were sitting in a parked car. The suspects threatened to shoot the victims if they did not surrender their property. The suspects took the victims’ property and fled in a white two-door car with a gray passenger door. The suspects were described as Hispanic Males between 18 and 20 wearing dark clothing.

A robbery occurred at the intersection of Tyrrell and Shepherd. The suspects blocked the victim’s vehicle with their vehicle and then assaulted the victim and took his property. There were three suspects; the first was described as a Hispanic male in his 20’s, 5’11”, 200 lbs with a long dark ponytail and mustache wearing a black beanie and black long sleeve crew neck, the second was a Hispanic male in his 20’s 5’08”, 180 lbs, with black hair and wearing a white tee shirt and gray sweats and the third was a Hispanic male was in his 20’s wearing reading glasses. The suspects were driving in a black 90’s Honda Civic with an unknown plate.

A strong arm robbery occurred on West Tennyson Road near the South Hayward BART station. The suspects grabbed the victim’s cell phone and fled into the BART parking lot. The suspects were described as an African-American male, 18 year old, 5’07”, thin build with short black curly hair last seen wearing a white shirt blue jeans and carrying a brown poodle and an African-American male 19 years old , 5’07”, with a thin build and medium black hair last seen wearing a black shirt and black jeans.

A bank robbery occurred at the US Bank located at 22268 Foothill Blvd. The suspect passed the teller a note demanding money. The teller gave the suspect cash and suspect left the bank out the east doors. The suspect was described as White or Hispanic Female in her late 20’s, 5’06” to 5’07”, with thin brown hair wearing a grey sweatshirt with orange sleeves and sunglasses.

Police responded to a report of subjects shooting firearms in the area of Eden Shores. Arriving officers were able to determine which residence the shooters were firing from and arrested the suspects and seized firearms.

A shooting occurred in the 1600 block of B St. Officers received a call to a local Hospital for a victim of gunshot wound. The victim claimed to have been shot near the intersection of B St and 4th St by a group of unknown Hispanic males. The victim received a minor nonlife threatening injury. Patrol divisions officers will be investigating.

A stabbing occurred in the 27000 block of Manon Ave. Two neighbors were having a dispute when one pulled out a knife and stabbed the other in the shoulder. Other neighbors came out and detained the suspect with the knife until police arrived. Officers arrested the suspect.

Hayward police blotter May 24-June 1

A robbery occurred in the parking lot of a business in the 20000 block of Hesperian Blvd. The victim stated he was sitting in his vehicle when a suspect approached him and placed a gun in his chest. The suspect demanded the victim’s money and wallet. The suspect took the victim’s property and left the scene. The suspect was described as an African American male adult with a black handgun.

A robbery occurred on C St between Myrtle Street and Filbert Street. Two suspects grabbed the victim from behind and knocked him to the ground. The suspects took the victim’s wallet and cell phone and ran south on Burbank St. The suspects were described as African American males, 16 to 18 years old, 5’07” to 5’11”, 150 to 160 pounds and were wearing black hooded sweatshirts.

A robbery occurred at a convenience store on the 300 block of Jackson Street. A total of three suspects entered the store. One of the suspects distracted the clerk while the other two suspects walked out with stolen merchandise. After the third suspect walked out of the store two employees confronted all three suspects outside. The suspects fought with the two employees. During the fight one of the employees was cut with a knife. The other employee sustained head trauma from the fight. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries. Two of the three suspects were arrested by responding officers. The investigation has been transferred to CIB for further follow up.

While in the area of Southgate and Calaroga St a patrol officer observes a suspect acting suspiciously in front of a residence. When the suspect became aware the officer was watching him he immediately ran away from him. The officer located the suspect a short distance away and determined the suspect had been prowling with the intent to commit a burglary. The officer arrested the suspect.

A shooting in a public place occurred on the 400 block of Urbano Way. The victim confronted the suspect in front of their house going through a garbage can. During the confrontation the suspect produced a handgun and fired two rounds causing property damage. The suspect then fled the scene.

During the investigation of a trespassing incident a patrol officer located a subject hiding from him behind a vehicle. The suspect immediately fled from the officer upon being contacted. After the suspect was detained the officer searched the area where the suspect was stopped and recovered a handgun in a nearby discarded backpack. The suspect was arrested for trespassing and possible possession of a concealed firearm.

A strong arm robbery occurred in front of a residence on the 1400 block of West St. The victim pulled in front of her home and was unlocking the door to her residence when they were approached from behind. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and fled from the scene on foot.

An attempted armed robbery occurred near the intersection of E 12th St and Tennyson Rd. The victim was approached by the suspect who pulled out a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim refused and the suspect fled northbound on E 12th Street. The suspect was described as an African American male, 25-30 years old, 5’07”, with a thin build and armed with a black handgun.

An arson occurred on the 26000 block of Whitman Street. The Hayward fire Department responded to a vegetation fire and discovered an apartment on fire as well. When the fire department forced entry they discovered the apartment was vacant and found evidence the fire had been intentionally set. HFD is investigating.

A shooting occurred inside a residence located on the 24000 block of Thomas Ave. HPD dispatch received a call from an informant claiming that a male relative had fired a weapon inside a home during an argument. When officers arrived they called everyone out of the home and detained them. Several weapons were recovered and the suspect was arrested.

A shooting occurred near the intersection of Whitman St and Fruitwood St. A victim was brought to a local hospital with a gunshot wound. When police contacted the victim, they claimed to be the victim of a robbery. The victim stated he had been shot after pushing the suspect away during the robbery. The victim gave several conflicting stories during his interview.

A carjacking occurred on Amador St and Elmhurst St when the suspect took a vehicle from his sister during an argument. The suspect’s sister was injured when she tried to stop the suspect from fleeing. On 05/22 Oakland Police Department stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect when he tried to flee from officers.

A burglary occurred to a business in the 500 block of West Tennyson Rd. The owner of the business observed three suspects prying open the door to the business and called the police. When police arrived one suspect surrendered and the other two suspects were taken into custody by the police canine.

A robbery occurred in a city parking lot in the 1000 block of B St. The two victims were approached by three suspects who surrounded them. One of the suspects pulled out a pistol and demanded the victim’s property. The suspects then assaulted the victims and took their property while they were on the ground. The suspects were described as three black males between 18 and 28 years old all approximately 6 feet tall.

A robbery occurred in front of a residence in the 400 block of Rousseau St. The victim pulled into his driveway and was approached by two suspects who asked for change. The suspects then demanded the victim’s car keys and produced a handgun. The suspects took some of the victim’s property but not his vehicle. The suspects fled the scene in opposite directions. The suspects are described as Hispanic male adults in the early 20’s.

A shooting occurred at a church on the 26000 block of Kay Ave. During an event at the church attendees heard an argument outside and went to investigate. The attendees heard several gunshots just outside and one attendee was struck once by a round with a nonlife-threatening injury. When officers arrived none of the attendees would cooperate and gave only partial information as to what had occurred.

While in the Whitman St and Tennyson Rd area an officer saw a narcotics transaction. The officer stopped and detained the purchaser and recovered the narcotics. The dealer fled the scene but was later observed by an officer near the intersection of Whitman St and Fruitwood Way. The suspect ran from the officer and was detained while hiding in a backyard. The suspect was arrested and found to have narcotics in his possession.

An armed robbery occurred to a gas station on the 21000 block of Foothill Blvd. The suspect was described as an African American male in his early 20s armed with a black handgun. The suspect entered the gas station and pointed the handgun at a clerk. The suspect demanded money from the clerk who gave him money from the register. The suspect fled the scene heading up Grove Way. Witnesses saw the suspect get on a motorcycle heading west bound on Grove St.

The suspect demanded money from the victim, but walked away when a pedestrian approached. Responding officers located the suspect in a nearby apartment with a knife in his pocket. The suspect was arrested for robbery.

A residential burglary occurred in the 1400 block of Linfield Lane. This particular residence has had several prior break ins. The resident called a family member to check on the alarm prior to contacting the police. The suspect fled prior to the family member and police arriving.

A burglary to a residence occurred in the 2600 block of Sleepy Hollow Avenue. The resident was home alone when the suspect approached and knocked on the door. The victim did not answer the door and several minutes later heard the suspect attempting to force open the rear sliding glass door. The suspect fled when confronted by the victim. The suspect is described as a Hispanic Male in his 20’s, 5’07”, with a medium build and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. A gray compact Mercedes was seen in front of the victim’s residence and at the same time as the incident.

A strong arm robbery occurred at City Hall. Several suspects assaulted the victim and took property from him. Responding officers stopped and detained all five suspects at two different locations. The suspects were identified and transported to jail.

Arriving officers located the two victims in front of a residence with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was described as an African American wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The victim was able to fight off the suspect’s attack and kept ahold of her purse. The suspect was able to take the victim’s phone. The suspect was last seen running towards downtown BART.

The suspects tied up two employees at gunpoint at took property from the business. The suspects took several thousand dollars of property. An attempted carjacking occurred in the 24000 block of Santa Clara St. The suspect threatened the victim with a simulated handgun causing the victim to drive away from the suspect, hitting him with the vehicle in the process. The victim flees the scene leaving the suspect on the ground with injuries from being struck by the vehicle. The suspect was arrested when police arrived at the scene.
