Tony, you hit the nail on the head with this one. It doesn’t take long these days for a movie to come out on DVD and people are so ghastly in movie theaters, I just don’t want to put up with it. Plus I think I counted 15 previews the last time I went. Don’t get me started on how filthy the theaters are either…people can be so inconsiderate and “Stuck on Stupid” so give me my recliner, a nice glass of wine and the DVD and I’m good!

I have almost given up completely on seeing movies on Friday or Saturday nights, because of the constant talking, call taking (and making!) and texting. For $10 a ticket, I want to see the movie.

I think that years of watching movies at home on DVD has made people feel too comfortable in the theater. The movie starts and they think they are on their couch at home.

I’ve been that 8-months pregnant woman on Bart (many years ago – my youngest will be 11 in June), and almost nobody ever got up for me unless I shoved my huge belly into their newspaper and forced the paper against the reader’s nose.

But people are selfish and deliberately clueless everywhere. We took our boys to a matinee recently, and didn’t mind the kids in the row behind us asking questions of their mother, but it would have been really considerate of her to stop talking ocassionally – like maybe when her kids weren’t asking questions. They weren’t asking continuously during the whole two hours, but she was talking pretty much nonstop. Even my autistic kid was better behaved.
