Saw them at Day on the Green in ’82 and again when they returned with the Scorpions a couple months later. That was the absolute pinnacle of Euro-metal, at least the second wave of Euro-metal. Def Leppard hadn’t even started sucking by then.
Wednesday was a great show – maybe the best I’ve seen them – and I was especially watching to see if they’d slowed down as they pull into their 50s. I wanted to do a set list and post it, but sadly I lost my pen. It must’ve been all the banging.

Your conversation with your buddy sounded very similar to ones I had with mine prior to the Maiden show last night.
My friends and I, all huge Maiden fans and who are also about your age, have gone to many great Maiden shows over the years: NOTB 1982- Day on the Green, Piece of Mind 1983 & Powerslave- Cow Palace 1985. I’ve also recently seen them twice on Ozzfest 2005 and at the LA Forum in Feb. The feeling was mutual amongst us that last night’s show in Concord also belongs in that Maiden Hall of Fame category. Between the historic setlist to the incredible stage show not to mention that the band sounded as tight and good as ever, it was truly a night to remember. So, I’m curious to get your opinion and haven’t seen a review from you yet.

By the way, my friends and I are also going to the Metal Masters show in August which was also discussed at great length last night!! I’m sure that will be another classic show but for now, it’s all about Maiden! Up the Irons!
