Our Zero of the Day, miraculously, wasn’t the Southern California school board member who was busted stealing a bottle of ketchup from a school cafeteria. They knew he was stealing it because he tried smuggling out under his coat …
No, our zero is the Wisconsin man who ran out of gas and tried siphoning some from another car Saturday. Because it was dark out, he couldn’t see if any gas was in the car. Lacking a flashlight, lamp, searchlight, jar of fireflies or any other reasonable form of illumination, he used the only thing he had to ascertain whether there was gas in there.
That’s right. He flicked his Bic.
The ensuing blast, funny enough, burned the unnamed idiot’s, er … man’s, hands and alerted neighbors, who called police. He and the woman who was assisting him (all master criminals need an assistant) were arrested on suspicion of theft and negligent use of burning materials.
I’ll let you know if/when I can find a Hero of the Day …
