Does the world need Ghostbusters 3?

I just read that third installments of both Men in Black and the Ghostbusters franchises are in the works. And It makes me very sad that Hollywood is so dried-up that they’d even consider this. Right now, a tear runs down my face, as if I was an Indian on the side of the road, watching people throw trash out their windows at my moccasins.

    Who ya gonna call, Tony?

I’m pretty sure Ernie Hudson is behind this third installment of “Ghostbusters.” It’s not like he’s busy …

First time I’ve read Tony’s blog, and yet I feel his pain.

I lived out of the country during the beginning of the millennium, and it was divine. At one point I happened to look at the top 10 grossing movies for a given week (I forget which week).

I recall being floored that 6 out of the 10 movies were either:
    a) sequels (Some have been such obvious attempts at milking money out of a franchise that those involved should be blacklisted from Hollywood on the grounds of “Dumbing Down America”)
    b) remakes of past American films (We LOVE to remake horror films for some reason…)
    c) remakes of foreign films (A personal bane of mine. If you cannot handle reading, stay at home and watch cable television!)

The existence of the word “Trilogy” is NOT enough of a justification for releasing another film. Let Coppola teach this lesson to all! I’m not saying that GF III is unwatchable, but anyone who thinks that it should even be released in the same box set as the first two films is someone who is about to go pay money to see the new “Fast & Furious” film (which conveniently completes a trilogy).

    Poor Sofia Coppola.
