Soupy Sales has died at the age of 83. While I mostly remember him being the funniest guy on whatever game show he appeared in the 70s, he had a great career. In reading one of his obits this morning, I came across an account of a gag he pulled on his kids show that got him in trouble. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard:
“Sales, who was typically clad in a black sweater and oversized bow-tie, was once suspended for a week after telling his legion of tiny listeners to empty their mothers’ purse and mail him all the pieces of green paper bearing pictures of the presidents.”
