Tiger took a bullet

Nice, fairly sincere apology from Tiger today, though the was right when saying it was fairly robotic.

My editor asked if i wanted to write a column about it, and I declined. I have no insight anyone won’t hear 1,000 times elsewhere. One thought I did have while listening to the press conference on the radio, though, was about all the other athletes out there who are serial cheaters. They probably didn’t watch. They probably didn’t want to get out of bed.

Then again, pro athletes probably don’t care because they don’t think they’ll get caught. I know of at least three pro athletes with families who have cheated and it didn’t go public – and I’m not even around athletes that much. None of these guys are massive stars, but still have massive egos and feel certain entitlements come with the fame. Which kind of sucks. It’s also why I didn’t become a sportswriter, which was the initial idea, because I love sports so much. Then I covered a community college tennis team and realized, if I couldn’t take those weenie boys trying to talk down to me, I wasn’t going to last long as a sportswriter.
