Hicks: Real reason earthquakes happen

I’ve finally figured out what caused the 1989 earthquake. I’m not naming names, but you know who you are.
A senior Iranian cleric says women who wear immodest clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes.
I knew it.
Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi – who is Tehran’s acting Friday prayer leader – was quoted in Iranian media as saying “many women who do not dress modestly … lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases Earthquakes.”
Well, duh. Any geologist can tell you that.
Iran is an earthquake-prone country, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad recently said that a big quake will eventually strike Tehran – which straddles some big fault lines – and many of its 12 million inhabitants should relocate.
“What can we do to avoid being buried under the rubble?” Sedighi asked, during a Friday sermon. “There is no other solution but to take refuge in religion and to adapt our lives to Islam’s moral codes.”
How about building really strong buildings?
I guess he didn’t say anything about men who dress immodestly? I guess we shouldn’t expect him at the next gay pride parade.
