I’m a total Big Leaguer …

I just got back from the doctor, who told me that I have a partially torn rotator cuff in my shoulder. To which I said:

That is so Big League.

I asked her if I could get Tommy John surgery or something to feel even cooler, and she gave me the now-familiar  “Could you, poor man, be even more stupid?”

Funny that I only get that look from women.

OK, maybe that really didn’t happen. But the good news is that I have plenty of time to recuperate for next year’s NFL draft (I didn’t get taken again this year, but I’ve been working out and have high hopes someone will need a 42-year-old, winded, slow, linebacker who hasn’t played a down of tackle football in 22 years. This is America – it could happen).

Well, it’s really not that great. It actually hurts … and I forgot to ask for painkillers. Which wasn’t very bright, as I’m taking next week off to stay home with the kids and could use some. A lot, actually. Plus I’ll probably have to get surgery when I find ten days I won’t need my left arm. I’d probably have to ask my assistant to type for me.

Oh, I don’t have one of those. I should really get an unpaid intern.
