Hicks: Remember when rock was dangerous?

Well, OK, so there’s really nothing dangerous about guys younger than my dog who like AFI seeing the back cover of Motley Crue’s “Too Fast For Love”record and deciding to seek fortune and fame (one of the guys even gave himself the last name “Sixx,” which I find kind of sweet).

Anyway, I’m sort of digging Hollywood’s new thing,  Black Veil Brides,  right now, if for no other reason than it’s nice to see guys going full-tilt these days and acting like rock stars before many people know who they are. Lots of make-up, dark imagery, double bass drums and even hammer-ons! Man, I heart hammer-ons. Plus creepy kids chanting choruses. What’s not fun?

Black Veil Brides are playing Slim’s Nov. 17.
