Angry e-mail of the week

I received a few negative e-mails concerning today’s column about mixing God and politics, a couple of which I resolved by assuring the reader that I meant no disrespect to religious folks, or to God herself/himself. In fact, I like to believe that God has a sense of humor (and reads me regularly).

However, this guy pretty much laid it out that I’m going to Hell and he doesn’t want to watch football and eat nachos at my house sometime:

“I find it amusing how you carelessly toss God’s name around. Clearly, you have no spirituality, and your only God is money. As you raise your family devoid of anything truly good, it is true you may never face adversity or God’s wrath. But it is also true that, in time, you deserve to be cursed, simply because you do no good, and you are certainly intelligent enough to know better.”
Wow. I mean, to think that someone on a reporter’s salary could actually worship money …

Clearly you are going to Hell. I will pray that you find a shady spot in which to roast and gnash your teeth.

Gnash gnash … If I’m going to Hell, I’m sure you’ll save me a spot.
