Weird Al and an impressionable child

My wife made the mistake of allowing the 9-year-old to watch a Weird Al DVD with the 3-year-old in the room on Friday night.

So all three mornings since, the 3-year-old no longer wants to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. No more Sesame Street or Tangled. She’s even abandoned her latest DVD obsession, Monsters Inc.  All she wants to watch now is … you guessed it. Weird Al videos.

Only she never says Weird Al. It’s always the whole name “Weird Al Yankovic.”

She walks around the house singing “Dare to be Stupid,” which is a wonderful thing to hear out of your daughter while she’s just developing her language skills. She sings “Eat It.” I think I may have heard her say “Yo, Ding Dong. Ding Dong, yo” to the cat. She knows the words to “Living With a Hernia.”

Someone may need an intervention soon.
