A tasty addition is on its way to downtown Lafayette.
The Cheese Steak Shop is slated to open this week on Mt. Diablo Boulevard near First Street, where the old Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant sat, city officials report.
The shop will offer its signature Philadelphia-style sandwich as well as vegetarian options.
Franchise owners Gerry Henkel and Gary Hart opened a shop in San Ramon last year, officials added.

i went to the Cheesesteak Shop in Lafayette and was not impressed at all. It seemed that there were more people standing around that had no clue on how to cook or prepare the cheese steaks properly. I ordered a BBQ cheese steak sandwich and it was scant on the meat and BBQ sauce. My friends cheese steak looked “meak and sick”. The one in Walnut Creek is the real deal holyfield. I am not going to go to this cheese steak shop for awhile to let them figure out who belongs and who does not. A thoroughly unmemorbable experience.
