From the Lafayette police log:

POSSESSION OF UNLAWFUL WEAPON — A Fremont resident and a Lafayette resident were found shooting potatoes from a potato launcher at 7:12 p.m. on Phillips Road. They sprayed hair spray into the launcher and lit it so the hair spray ignited and the launcher expeled the potato. Police officers responded after residents reported hearing shots fired.
VANDALISM — A Lafayette resident reported someone scratched a swastika on his car on Murray Lane. Repairs were estimated at $500.
STOLEN CAR — A Los Arabis Drive resident reported a 1988 Toyota stolen. He left it parked in front of the house with the keys in the ignition.

Can’t the Police ever just walk away? Why did they make this a crime? For god sakes copper it was a potato gun!
And they wonder why the public has become more and more disillusioned with police services.

The police responded to a report of shots fired. If someone reported shots fired in your neighborhood, wouldn’t you want the police to respond, you moron?

Gentlemen! Please!
OK kids, combustion-type potato guns are probably not legal in Lafayette. General rule:
“If it is ok to shoot a shotgun in your particular location….you will have no problem with your spudgun.”
