The Monterey Jazz Festival’s internationally acclaimed “Next Generation Jazz Orchestra” just announced its lineup for 2007, and it includes Lafayette teen trumpeter Aaron Bahr. The Campolindo senior is one of 20 high school musicians selected from across the country to perform in Monterey’s “best and brightest” youth jazz ensemble, a gig that includes performances at New York City’s Jazz at Lincoln Center series, performances in Paris next week, and, of course, the 50th annual Monterey Jazz Festival this fall. The jazz orchestra’s Bay Area contingent also includes Amador Valley High saxophonist John Palowitch and pianist Sam Reider from the Urban School of San Francisco.
