The FBI is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Bank of the West in Lafayette on Thursday.
The robber entered the bank at 3538 Mt. Diablo Blvd. at 4:50 p.m. and filled out a deposit slip before threatening a teller with a small black handgun, police Chief Mike Hubbard said.
“It was very fast; no one was hurt,” Hubbard said.
The robber stole an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running east on Mt. Diablo Boulevard.
Officers aided by police dogs and a helicopter searched for the robber for about 45 minutes.
He is described as a white man in his early 20s, between 5 feet 4 and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with brown hair in a buzz cut. He was wearing a black shirt and dark-colored pants during the robbery.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Lafayette police at 925-284-5010.
