The second-seeded Acalanes boys soccer team has continued its success during league play into the playoffs. A struggle in regulation and overtime against visiting Piedmont forced the Dons into a shootout in Wednesday night’s NCS semifinal. After being tied 1-1 following regulation and overtime, Acalanes was able to convert all five of their penalty kicks, winning the shootout, 5-3.
On the girls side, Miramonte dominated Northgate in their semifinal, but the second-seeded Matadors struggled to get their chances in the net. A goal off of a corner kick was all they needed though, advancing by a final score of 1-0.
The Campolindo girls held the number one seed, Bishop O’Dowd, scoreless through regulation and overtime but were unable to score themselves. With the game tied, 0-0, the two teams entered a shootout, which Bishop O’Dowd won, 4-1.
The NCS girls soccer final will be Saturday at 12 p.m. between Miramonte and Bishop O’Dowd.
The NCS boys soccer final will be Saturday at 2 p.m. between Acalanes and Bishop O’Dowd.
Bishop O’Dowd is the number one seed in both brackets and will host both finals.
