Two women drove their car over the foot of a Lafayette police officer Wednesday after he told them to get out of the car.

The officer responded to a call that the two women and a man had attempted to make a purchase at Safeway with a stolen debit card.

When the officer arrived, the man could not be found, but the women were found in their car in the Safeway parking lot.

After driving over the officer’s foot, the women fled the scene onto Highway 24 westbound. After being slowed down in afternoon traffic, the women were stopped on Telegraph Avenue.
