The Lafayette Town Hall Theatre was flooded Wednesday when a sprinkler malfunctioned. The entire downstairs seating area was damaged and is closed until repairs can be made. The upstairs seating and the stage were not damaged by the flooding.

Carpets were torn out of much of the damaged area as crews tried to dry the flooded area as quickly as possible before further damage was caused.

After canceling the Thursday performance of “The Odd Couple: Female Version,” the show went on Friday night. The Town Hall Theatre does not expect to cancel any other shows while repairs are going on.

The Town Hall Theatre has been running since 1944, which makes it the longest continually running theatre in the country. The Lafayette Town Hall building was built in 1914.
