Damien Bell, 34, was arrested and charged with two counts of armed robbery in connection with the “Craigslist robberies” that have been occurring recently in the East Bay. The two counts are for crimes committed in Oakland, but police believe Bell is also responsible for the robberies in Orinda.
In one of his robberies in Oakland, Bell dropped his watch in a scuffle with one of his victims. Police found his DNA on the watch after matching it in their system. Bell has two prior convictions for robbery. He will likely face life in jail under California’s Three Strikes Law.
In the “Craigslist robberies,” victims would meet up with the suspect to purchase a car after finding each other through Craigslist ads. The suspect would then hold the victims up at gunpoint at that location.
