A young man died after his car went off of the road near the Gateway Boulevard exit while driving eastbound on Highway 24 shortly around 5:30 a.m. this morning.
The driver, who was driving a dark blue Mitsubishi Eclipse, has not yet been identified by authorities. The car came to a stop flipped over in a grassy field.
Initial police reports suggest that a high rate of speed was likely the reason the driver lost control, but no official cause has been determined. Police reported that there were no indications alcohol or drugs were involved, although this is typically investigated as part of the autopsy.
