A police officer on patrol around 2:30 a.m. Thursday morning witnessed four people stealing wheels and rims off of a car parked along the street near Saint Stephens Drive and El Nido Ranch Road in Orinda.
Two male suspects fled the scene of the crime on foot, while two female suspects fled in an Acura. Police pursued the vehicle through the Caldecott Tunnell and arrested the suspects when they crashed near Highway 13.
After checking the plates of the car the suspects used to flee, police confirmed it had been stolen in Oakland. Two other cars at the scene of the crime, believed to have been driven there by the suspects, were also reported as stolen.
The two male suspects have not yet been found.
