Heading into the NCS Division III baseball championship game, both teams were expecting a pitchers duel, and that is exactly what they got.

The pitcher from Sir Francis Drake High School held Miramonte to only three hits, but the Matadors were able to get two of those three hits in the first inning, allowing them to score the only run they would need to claim their first NCS baseball title since 2005.

Miramonte pitcher Andrew Kjar dominated the opposition from the Oakland Coliseum mound, giving up only three hits and a walk in an eight-strikeout complete game. It was Kjar’s third straight complete game shutout.

The Matadors finished their season with a 23-3-1 record.
