Former Lafayette Planning Commissioner Dick Holt has sued the City of Lafayette over the dispute involving his proposal to build a 2,600-square-foot home on property he owns off of Sessions Road overlooking downtown.

Holt’s initial application to build the home was denied by the Lafayette Planning Commission. Holt attempted to file an appeal of the rejection by the Planning Commission with the Lafayette City Council in February, but City Council members denied Holt’s attempt to appeal.

Holt and his lawyers are claiming that city staff are making their decisions based on pressure from neighbors of his proposed development site.

The dispute over Holt’s proposed building plans has been going on for two years.
