Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire Department were called in to help stop a fire in an unincorporated area of Alameda County near San Ramon. The Moraga-Orinda firefighters joined firefighters from Alameda County, San Ramon, Cal Fire and the East Bay Regional Park District in stopping the blaze. The fire burned over 40 acres of land before it was put out.

The Moraga-Orinda Fire Department were the recipients of outside help when the hill behind the Rheem Valley Shopping Center caught on fire just a week ago.

It is common for firefighters to travel to help other local departments. Moraga-Orinda firefighters often fight fires outside of the Lamorinda area.

Players from thirteen different petanque clubs competed in the tournaments with the top finishers in each tournament being awarded medals and prizes. Jacques de Noray, the Deputy French Consul, came to the event from San Francisco to hand out the awards.

The tournaments started early in the morning each day and, despite the high temperatures all day, continued into the night.

The FPUSA was pleased with how well the Lamorinda Petanque Club hosted the event, and the club could very well host major tournaments in the future.
