A party hosted by a Miramonte student Saturday night has led to the arrests and citations of seven Miramonte students and a continued investigation into the events surrounding the party, including parent involvement.
Lafayette and Orinda police arrived at the party on Happy Valley Road near the Lafayette-Orinda border just after 12:30 Sunday morning.
The seven students were arrested for various reasons, including suspicion of driving while intoxicated, suspicion of public drunkenness and suspicion of possessing marijuana.
Police are now prepared to make charges against parents of students involved with the party. The parents of the host and parents who allegedly covered up a possible DUI hit-and-run could face charges.

Hi,
I was referred to this blog after visiting an article written by Jonathan Morales. I have some Lamorinda news.
I would like to exhort other Lamorinda residents to comment on the first Lafayette Farmers’ market. After meeting Jonathan Morales at the market, I was inspired to write the following letter:
September 18, 2009
To Whom It May Concern:
As a Lafayette resident I would like to applaud those who made the September Farmers’ Market possible. Please bring this back next year. I attended two out of the four Lafayette Farmers’ Market this year: once as a casual shopper and once as an authorized non-profit holding a booth for the Lafayette Chapter of Toastmasters International.
I want to give special thanks to citizen Leslie Westphal who promoted the Farmers’ Market by talking to businesses directly to advertise the market with flyers. Additional thanks for Farmers’ Market parking direction volunteers: you and Keith. My most sincere appreciation to you for checking on my welfare in the heat plus distributing my non-profit flyers at your information booth.
I want to recognize the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce for being so prompt to reply to email concerning the first Lafayette Market. Furthermore, I want to honor Janet Thomas who coordinated volunteers to unload for vendors and nonprofits to set up booths.
I am certain there are many other behind-the-scenes workers that made this possible. Please continue this in Lafayette as it is valuable to promote local farmers, increases shopping at local businesses before and after the event, creates positive community fellowship, and draws tourism from surrounding areas to profit the city.
Please contact me if you would like further detail regarding my experience. Kindly forward this letter to other decision-makers who will influence the Lafayette Farmers’ Market next year.
Sincerely,
Renee Marchol

My apologies for the typos in the letter above regarding the Farmers’ Market. The antecendent to “you” was meant for Moira Motil the Lafayette Market Manager.
