CIF state cross country meet; NCS football quarterfinals

The 2009 CIF Cross Country State Championships took place this Saturday at Woodward Park in Fresno.

On the boys side, Campolindo made a run at the team title, finishing in sixth place overall. Senior Paul Jackson, who finished in 19th place, was the top individual finisher for Campolindo. Miramonte finished 18th in the team standings, while their top finisher, senior Christian Britto, finished in 22nd.

The Campolindo girls finished seventh in the team standings. Their top finisher, sophomore Carrie Verdon, was ninth overall. Despite having five freshmen on their team of seven runners, the Acalanes girls finished tenth in the team standings.

The Miramonte football team is now in the NCS semifinals after beating Novato, 17-0, on Saturday. They will play at the number one seed, Encinal, on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
