Moraga’s hometown astrounaut, Stephen K. Robinson, is preparing to head into space for the fourth time this Sunday when STS-130 lifts off. The scheduled lift-off time is 1:39 a.m.
This will be Robinson’s return trip to the International Space Station. He will serve as the flight engineer and intravehicular officer, which means he will help lead fellow astronauts during their spacewalks outside of the shuttle.
The crew will be taking Node 3 Tranquility to the space station, which will serve as the space station’s robotics control room.
Robinson graduated from Campolindo High School in 1973. He later went on to earn degrees at U.C. Davis and Stanford, while working at NASA Ames.
