Moraga next to ban pot clubs?

Someone must be bouncing from central county city to central county city trying to open up a medical marijuana dispensary. Here’s an item of note on the agenda for the next Moraga Town Council meeting:

Public Hearing and Consideration of an Interim Urgency Ordinance of the Town Council of the Town of Moraga Adopting a Temporary Moratorium on the Establishment and Operation of Medical Marijuana Dispensaries

Cities can, with a four-fifths council vote, ban certain land uses, including pot clubs, for 45 days, with a potential extension of up to 2 years, while they study whether those land uses are consistent with the city’s zoning guidelines. Lafayette, Orinda and Walnut Creek have already put a temporary ban on pot clubs.

Also on Wednesday’s agenda is a recommendation from the Rancho Laguna Park Commission on what the town should do about off-leash dogs at the park. This debate flared up last year when dog owners sparred with those concerned about the risks of mixing off-leash dogs and people, specifically children. The council asked that any solution include a physical separation between off-leash dogs and the rest of the park.
