Miramonte High School’s mock trial team successfully defended their Contra Costa County Mock Trial title on Tuesday, competing against other schools from the area. It is the fourth consecutive time Miramonte has won.
The victory qualifies Miramonte for the state championships, which will take place March 19-21 in San Jose. If they are able to win the state championship, they would then advance on to the national championships in Philadelphia in May.
Campolindo and Acalanes also both participated in the county competition. Campolindo finished in second, while Acalanes took fourth place.
In a mock trial, team participants play different characters in a typical trial setting and argue both sides of a fake murder case.
