Two years after receiving a warning from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Saint Mary’s received acknowledgement from the same organization based on improvements they have made.
In 2008, Saint Mary’s received a warning regarding possible racism and sexism on campus. The WASC had also shown concern for similar incidents at Saint Mary’s in reports in 1990 and 2004.
Officials at Saint Mary’s have mentioned the goal of continued improvement in statements that have gone out since the college received the letter of acknowledgement from Ralph Wolff, president of the WASC.
Improvements to the college’s libraries and in other academic areas were acknowledged as well.
