Lafayette Book Store closing

Another casualty of the economy. The owners of Lafayette Book Store say they’ll be closing their store on July 29 due to the inability to come to an agreement on a new lease with their landlord and the challenging economic conditions.

In a message on the store’s website, owner Dave Simpson says the store will continue to operate without a physical location, maintaining their presence at community events and providing overnight shipping on special orders.

On the website, Simpson did note that the opening of the new library, with its used book store, did result in a measurable decline in revenue for his store. He did, however, add that he remains supportive of the new library.
