Acalanes student newspaper wins national award

The Acalanes student newspaper, Blueprint, was recently named the “Most Outstanding High School Newspaper for 2009″ by the American Scholastic Press Association. Blueprint was selected as the best from 59 total entries in its category. Blueprint earned the same honor in 1999.

Blueprint also recently received the 2010 Dean S. Lesher Award for Overall Excellence from the Contra Costa Times. One of the editors-in-chief of Blueprint, Jessie Welcomer, received individual honors from the Contra Costa Times as well. Welcomer earned the Scholastic Journalist Award for her hard news reporting.
