Current Moraga Town Manager Mike Segrest is a finalist for a similar position in South Lake Tahoe, Calif., the Tahoe Daily Tribune reports.

He was in South Lake Tahoe on Monday morning to meet with city commission representatives and members of the community, along with the other city manager finalist, Tony O’Rourke, the executive director of Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado, according to the Tribune.

A community panel and the City Council are leaning toward O’Rourke, according to the Lake Tahoe News.

Segrest has announced he is leaving Moraga because his wife has developed severe allergies since moving to California. Many residents learned that Segrest may leave when EastBayDaze picked up on reports he was a finalist for the town manager position in Telluride, Colo., which ultimately went to another candidate.

On Wednesday, the Moraga Town Council will start the process of finding Segrest’s replacement. Consulting firm Peckham and McKenney, which conducted the search that led to Segrest’s hiring early last year, will conduct the new search at no charge to the town other than actual costs, estimated at around $5,500.

The firm hopes to recommend final candidates to the council in early September, and, in a letter to the council, says the names of the finalists will not be revealed to the public “so as not to jeopardize the current employment situation of finalist candidates.”
