Orinda crime statistics for August

The Orinda Police Department made 12 total arrests during the month of August. Half of the 12 were for alcohol-related crimes, as four people were arrested for driving under the influence, while two were arrested for being drunk in public. Of the remaining six arrests, one was for each of the following crimes: possession of drugs, domestic battery, misdemeanor battery, petty theft, vandalism, and a previous warrant.

Vandalism was a common crime in August, as 11 incidents were reported to police. There were five reports of burglary (two residential, two auto and one commercial), three reports of petty theft and one report of grand theft. A vehicle was also reported stolen.

Police responded to 113 false residential alarms during the month.
