What started off as a small singing competition in 2006 has turned into a local cultural phenomenon. The Orinda Idol Finals will take place on Sunday, Sept. 12, with the top competitors performing from an initial audition group of nearly 200 students from 23 Lamorinda schools.
The finals will last most of the day, as the elementary school finalists perform 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., the middle school finalists perform 1:00-2:15 p.m., the high school finalists perform 3:15-4:30 p.m., and the group finalists perform 5:00-6:15 p.m.
Awards will be presented starting at 6:45 p.m. for all groups. The awards are based on judge and audience voting.
Tickets are required to attend the Orinda Idol finals, but they are free and available prior to each finals time slot.
