Firefighters from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District recently took a training course focused on mining rescues. The point of the training was for the firefighters to be prepared for potential rescue situations during the drilling and building of the Cadecott Tunnel’s fourth bore.

Nine firefighters from MOFD completed the course with 10 employees of Tutor-Saliba, the construction company working on the bore. Tutor-Saliba’s rescue team would be called in first in the event of an accident, while MOFD firefighters would be called in to offer support.

The training course consisted of more than 40 combined hours of classroom and on-site lectures and discussions.
