The senior housing development Chateau Lafayette recently received a grant, which will allow for the organization to make some much-needed improvements to the housing.

A grant of $28,712 came from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, while the Lafayette Redevelopment Agency Board offered $22,420 toward the upgrades as well.

Chateau Lafayette will be getting 60 new ranges, a new water heater and a new roof on one of its buildings. All of the upgrades are being made with energy efficiency in mind.

Chateau Lafayette is a non-profit development and is home to more than 80 low-income senior citizens.
