Not guilty plea in Merrick case

During a hearing Thursday, Stanley Middle School teacher Michael Merrick pleaded not guilty to the 17 felony counts and one misdemeanor count against him.

Merrick has still yet to speak out about the charges against him. His attorney, Elizabeth Grossman, is also not commenting on the case .

Merrick is expected to be released from jail in the near future, as his attorney has stated that his family has come up with a property bond to meet the $3.05 million bail Merrick is facing.

Merrick is not expected to be back in court until Dec. 15 when a preliminary hearing date will be scheduled.
