Family, friends and former students of Mary Sue Johnson filled the Campolindo Performing Arts Center today for a memorial service honoring the teacher.
Johnson, who was 63 at the time of her death, was a popular teacher at Glorietta Elementary School in Orinda for years.
Johnson died Monday afternoon when complications arose following surgery. Johnson was having heart valve surgery at the Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco.
Johnson’s family has asked that those wishing to honor her memory donate to the charity Donors Choose, which helps fund classroom projects, in lieu of gifts or cards. Their website is http://www.donorschoose.org.
