UPDATE: The appeal is tentatively scheduled for the council’s Jan. 24 meeting, according to city planner Michael Cass.

As expected, the owners of a Burton Valley home have appealed the Planning Commission’s rejection of their second-story addition project.

David Bowie, attorney for Joe and Noelle Polichio as well as architect Ken Hertel, filed the appeal today. The matter will head next to the City Council.

The commission rejected the project last month, saying the proposal had not been scaled back enough to make it consistent with the surrounding neighborhood.

The Planning Commission’s hearing on the project was itself an appeal. The Design Review Commission approved the project in September, but two of the Polichios’ neighbors appealed that decision to the Planning Commission.
