Lock your doors, says the Moraga Police Department.

From Chief Bob Priebe:

On Saturday, January 8, 2011, at approximately, 6:20 AM, officers of the Moraga Police Department (MPD) responded to the first of four suspected residential burglary reports in the area of Woodford Dr., Camelford Ct., and Buckingham Dr. (neighborhood across from Campolino HS).

Investigation revealed the suspect(s) entered garages via unlocked side doors and then stole property from unlocked vehicles inside the garages and entered some of the residences via unlocked interior doors. Property was stolen from inside one of the residences. Another unlocked vehicle in a driveway was also victimized.

A vehicle parked on Natalie Dr. was located by investigating officers with some of the stolen property visible inside. The vehicle was towed and the property was recovered. A later search of the vicinity resulted in recovery of more stolen property. The registered owner of the vehicle linked to the burglaries is a parolee. MPD is working with Parole to contact the registered owner.

The Moraga Police Department would like to remind everyone to secure all homes and vehicles at all times. Crime prevention methods such as locking residential, garage, and vehicle doors, not leaving valuables in plain sight, use of alarm systems, and proper exterior lighting are encouraged.

If you observe any suspicious vehicles, persons, or activities at any time, please call police dispatch at 925-284-5010. If you have any information about these burglaries, please contact the MPD at 925-888-7055 ext. 0.
