John Coleman, the director of the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) who represents the area including Lafayette, was elected as the new president of the EBMUD board Friday.

Coleman has served on the board for EBMUD since 1990 when he was elected for the first time, which makes him the longest-serving member of the board. In fact, this isn’t the first time Coleman will serve as the board’s president.

Coleman also works as the executive director of the Bay Planning Commission.

Katy Foulkes will continue to represent the area that includes Moraga and Orinda after being reelected to a new four-year term.
